Now days its a must. No eating!


I do remember the days of hot dog stands in the subway. Hot dogs, burgers, fries, ice cream. My father, a life long restaurateur, told me as a little boy at 14th Street on the Lex, "never eat food from those places, they are infested with rats". I never did.



However, The MTA is upgrading empty retail spaces to allow for coffee and pastries and the MTA is noticing that food sales have been successful and is reintroducing them to the subway. Officially, the guidelines of the MTA encourage eating "discreetly and making as little mess as possible".
