On February 3, Prince Edward became the first member of the British royal family to speak out about the Epstein files.

The Prince and Princess of Wales followed suit on February 9, saying through a spokesperson that they are “deeply concerned” by the “continuing revelations.”

Both ex-Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson were included in the latest drop of Epstein files released on January 30 by the U.S. Department of Justice.

As revelations about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s connection to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein continue to emerge, Prince William and Kate Middleton have broken their silence on the matter.

On February 9, a spokesperson for the Prince and Princess of Wales said that the couple is “deeply concerned” by the “continuing revelations” of the Epstein files. “Their thoughts remain focused on the victims,” the spokesperson added, per The Telegraph.

The statement comes just over a week after the U.S. Department of Justice’s release of the latest batch of Epstein files on January 30, which included photographs of Andrew and emails from his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. In the wake of the latest drop, Andrew and Sarah were forced out of their Windsor home, Royal Lodge, on February 2 following a reported discussion between King Charles and the Prince of Wales on February 1. Andrew has relocated to the Sandringham estate, and Sarah’s whereabouts are unknown after leaving Royal Lodge.

William and Kate’s statement puts increasing pressure on the King to speak out in a statement against his younger brother, whom he stripped of all royal titles and privileges last October, rendering him a commoner. The King has been heckled at multiple royal engagements since the latest tranche of Epstein files.

Until the Prince and Princess of Wales’s statement on Monday, William has deferred to his father in dealing with what has become known as the “Andrew issue,” and William “supports the King’s leadership,” a source told The Telegraph. The outlet added that, despite this, William “is said to have privately pushed for a firmer line in dealing with it.” The future king is also “understood to have been mindful of Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor’s mental health under extreme public pressure,” the publication added.
